No, they won't move Papelbon during the season. They will probably split, or use Gagne in the Timlin role (he's hurting), and they may still ship Delcarmen.

I think the deal was made as much to 'block' others from getting him, more so than a need pick up.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

Good, maybe the Yankees wont have another Carl Povano situation now.

Gagne is a rental, Pavano was a large investment in a swamp community.

    Re: Gagne to Sox?

They might make Pappelbon the setup man and Gagne the closer or vise versa
    Reeking of awesomeness!

    Re: Gagne to Sox?

Nah, Pappelbon will be 'the closer'. A)He's their property and is under contract for a bit b)Gagne isn't theirs anywhere past the season. No way they undermine their own for a guy that is there a couple months, probably tops. Now they might look to revisit resigning Gagne and move Pappelbon back into the rotation next year, but I kind of doubt it.

    Re: Gagne to Sox?

Gagne will be used in the 7th and 8th innings. Pappelbon will remain as the closer because he is by far the better of the two.
